Hip pain: what does it mean?

A “worn out” hip corresponds to a   deterioration of the articular cartilage  , the protective tissue that prevents bones from rubbing together. When this cartilage is reduced or disappears, the friction causes pain, stiffness   , and sometimes inflammation   : this is hip osteoarthritis (or coxarthrosis).
